IN IMMEDIATE DANGER? CALL 911

POWER HOUSE CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER

We protect children who have suffered sexual and physical abuse by providing a caring team of agencies and professionals who are involved in the investigation and intervention system — law enforcement, child protective services, medical professionals, and advocates — in one location. Our facility and programs are designed to reduce the risk of additional trauma, limit the need to navigate a sometimes difficult and confusing system and multiple locations, and help children and their non-offending family members through the healing process.

HOURS OF OPERATION
Monday-Friday
9a-5p

Our crisis line is staffed 24/7 and offers services and peace of mind for clients no matter what time of day they need it.

Please note, our Power House Child Advocacy Center is not a walk-in facility. Each case of child abuse must be reported to your local police department or DFCS Child Protective Services (855-GACHILD) to be referred to us.

THE POWER HOUSE CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER is focused on the “Whole Healing” approach. We provide a safe place and single point of contact for victims of child abuse and their non-offending family members.

A dedicated team is on call 24/7 ready to address a child’s safety, tend to any physical injuries and emotional needs giving them the opportunity to tell their story and begin the healing process..

The program enables children to tell details of their abuse one time in a forensic interview with a specially trained team member. The agencies and professionals involved in the health and welfare of the child observe the interview in a separate room that is non-intrusive to the child or caregiver.

We provide a non-invasive forensic medical exam with our on-staff Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) to not only collect evidence but also to reassure the children that they are physically healthy and well.

An advocate meets each family at the door on their first visit and stays with them throughout the entire process. The advocate ensures families receive all the services and therapy they need with the ultimate goal of “Whole Healing.”

Forensic Interviews: For children, a forensic interview offers the opportunity to communicate experiences in a manner that is legally sound and maximizes the child’s abilities. Team members involved in the investigation, health and welfare of the child can observe the interview in a separate room that is non-intrusive to the child or caregiver.

Forensic Medical Exams: Accompanied by an advocate at all times, on-site exams are non-invasive and provided by a highly trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. Services include collecting evidence through rape kits and STI testing.

Trauma-Focused Therapy and Crisis Counseling: An essential part of the healing process for children and families is receiving therapeutic services that help move them through the crisis and toward healthy relationships.

Advocacy: Navigating the ”system” can seem overwhelming and confusing. An advocate can help keep the focus on the victim, connecting victims with appropriate team members and providing support through the legal process.

Multidisciplinary Team Coordination: We understand that with effective team member collaborations: communication is exchanged in a timely manner, team members mutually benefit from the expertise and experience of others, and innovative and child-focused responses are explored.

Our crisis line is staffed 24/7 and offers services and peace of mind for clients no matter what time of day they need it.

Our Sexual Assault Center program partners adult victims with our Advocates to explain what we do and what services we offer and then support victims as they decide how they want to move forward. Much of our focus in the beginning is on educating adults about what to expect if charges are filed and how to move through the legal process.

Adults are provided a forensic medical exam with our full-time Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) to collect evidence and be reassured of their physical health. We also provide adults trauma-focused therapy to help them heal and return to leading a normal life.

Community Awareness & Education Program: F.A.I.T.H. encourages and provides community education efforts to work toward the ultimate goal of ending sexual violence in our communities.

Sexual Assault Kit Victim Notification Portal: In 2017, the Sexual Assault Kit Victim Notification Portal was created to assist survivors of sexual assault who believe their sexual assault kit may not have been previously tested. Survivors can visit notify.svrga.org to communicate their preferences regarding notification of reopened investigations and prosecutions.

Forensic Medical Exams: Accompanied by an advocate at all times, on-site exams are non-invasive and provided by a highly trained SANE. Services include collecting evidence through rape kits and STI testing.

Trauma-Focused Therapy and Crisis Counseling: An essential part of the healing process is receiving therapeutic services that help move them through the crisis and toward healthy relationships.

Advocacy: Navigating the ”system” can seem overwhelming and confusing. An advocate can help keep the focus on the victim, connecting victims with appropriate team members and providing support through the legal process.

The Domestic Violence Shelter
Protects individuals and families leaving a dangerous situation by providing a safe, caring, and supportive environment.

Our shelter program protects individuals and families by providing a safe, caring, and supportive home-like environment. We opened our first shelter 25 years ago in a small space in downtown Clayton, GA. F.A.I.T.H purchased and renovated a building with proceeds from Rhapsody in Rabun for use as a shelter for battered women and their children.

In 2008, our new shelter was completed with more rooms and space for individuals and families needing safety from violence. The new space is decorated to provide a home environment for clients and living room for house meetings, a laundry room, and a full kitchen off a playroom so parents can cook dinner and have their kids close by.

Our Non-Residential Programs
Many individuals and families we assist do not need our shelter. Through our Outreach and Legal program, we provide the advocacy and support needed to remain safe in the community. Our Legal Advocates provide information and assist in obtaining a Temporary Protective Order (TPO) or Stalking Order. They are there to help navigate the court system, accompany clients to court hearings, and apply for Victim’s Compensation.

Advocacy: Navigating life beyond the abuse can be incredibly overwhelming.  Through advocacy and individually tailored support, our “whole healing” approach offers tools, knowledge and access to resources that are needed.

Trauma-Focused Therapy and Crisis Counseling: An essential part of the healing process is receiving therapeutic services that help move them through the crisis and toward healthy relationships.

Education: We conduct community education efforts with the ultimate goal to prevent domestic violence in our communities.

Vouchers: We provide vouchers to our Thrift Stores for clients moving into our repaid housing program, to ensure they have all the necessities to set up “house” for their families and make a successful transition from the shelter.
